The Laboratory for
Service-ORiented
Computing
EnviRonment (SORCER)
is an
interdisciplinary
laboratory at the
Computer Science
Department, in Texas
Tech University. The
principal goal is
research in network,
service, and
object-centric
programming. Object
oriented techniques
are directly applied
to the network, and
everything on the
network is treated
as a service
(service
oriented).So,
self-aware and
autonomic
environments are
created which are
conceptually a
simple grid of
federated network
resources.These
resource federations
provide an execution
environment for a
new generation of
interactive
service-oriented
programs. Thus, the
computer is the grid
of network objects.
Sorcer.Grid, a grid
computing
Infrastructure, is
currently running on
the Sorcer lab
compute hosts and
HPCC compute hosts.
